Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

La Grave and surroundings, March 2024

The same group as in the last few years (Arno, irbis, non-snowheads Richard, Paul and Arnaud, plus me) went to La Grave - this time on the same week as the snowheads offpiste bash.

We got lucky with the snow and managed to do a few new routes. Here are some photos (most using phones, some with a camera) and brief stories.

The first day was notable mainly for overdoing the warm-up in Chazelet, with nearly 1000m of ascent. At night, snow fell and so the next day we skied La Grave in flat light conditions (but still great snow):

...and of course, by far the best photo of the day:

 Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

On the second day, we headed to Monetier (where we crossed paths with a few snowheads, including @admin on the Montagnole)

irbis finds a nice empty line

him again

Arno makes it look easy...

...but fast!

while Paul enjoys the scenery

Arnaud has fun at the exit of the Couloir des Filles

So do I, a bit further down

and again

In the afternoon we head off to Couloir les Guibertes

..where Richard, amongst others, finds decent snow as the day draws to an end (and so does the snow, further down)

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Origen, Hurtle, thank you! To be fair, there will be quite a few photos in this TR that aren’t mine, starting of course with those featuring me Very Happy I’ll mention it in the next posts. Of those above, Richard’s “about to topple over” pic is taken by Arnaud (who also made sure I starred in a few pics)

Superb photos.
La Grave always good for breaking in the legs.
There is no easy way to get ski fit for that place.
